Hey everyone, I'm a third year DPT student in my third rotation. I am required to present an in service and am have some difficulty with a topic to present on. The clinic has a heavy athlete population, so I was wanting to do a presentation relevant to that. Most clients are of high school and college age. Many are post-op though some aren't. My CI said any sport or ortho subject would be okay. Any help with a topic is much appreciated. Thanks!

ah asking people to do the research because you don't want to huh. Ask the PTs at your clinic if there's something they want to learn more about or select something you want to learn more about. It's your project not ours.

Not at all. Just seeing if anyone has heard of any novel, interesting therapeutic techniques or surgical procedures for athlete related injuries that I may not be aware of yet. Not asking anyone to do any work for me (as I said, I'm a third year and have presented in services before), just stumped for ideas is all. Looking for a topic, not for someone else's work.

You may look into regenerative medicine and/or use of stem cells in the outpatient ortho/sports population. Consider taking a look at PRP injections, prolotherapy, stem cell transplants in hard-to-heal poly-trauma to joints (such as the ankle), etc. Our clinic as both OCS, SCS, residency-trained OCS, and fellow-in-training and none of us are too familiar with any of this stuff quite yet.

I am seeing more and more patients come in with all of the above. I'd be interested...

Sheldon, thanks for those topics. They are definitely things I wouldn't have considered/never even heard of. I'll be looking into each of them. I appreciate your thoughts.
