I am graduating in May and plan to defer my loans, Stafford Sub and un-sub, GradPLUS. My wife has a decent job and we were wondering if her income is used in the calculations for deferment. Does anyone know if, or how, spousal income is calculated into the picture?

As long as the income documentation submitted only shows your income/wages - you should be fine. As a lender, we recommend submitting a w2 vs. your jointly filed income tax return. If you submit your joint income tax return, both income will be used to determine eligibility.

But contact your lender - this could vary.
