I just got my MCAT score back as a 516 (127/130/128/131). Will this score be looked at as a 516, or as the fact that my chem and bio subsections are not great? I don’t plan on retaking, but I don’t know if I should try for top schools with this score.

If your GPA is 3.7+ and you’re URM, definitely.

If your GPA is 3.8+ and ORM, then maybe depending on your ECs.

Maybe I'm speaking from a point of naivete here, but they don't seem all that spread out. Got an interview at a top school as an ORM with that exact MCAT score and a pretty weak cGPA. My chem and bio subsections were only 1 point above yours. N=1, but it seems possible to get interivews with top schools, particularly if you fit well with the school's mission.

They're not terrible section scores. We're talking about your 'worst' sections still being clearly above average. There's no 123's here, I wouldn't worry.

Your MCAT score is in the 94/95th percentile with no subsection being below the 75-80th percentile. At this point your score certainly is an asset in your application rather than a liability. While I recognize that competition at top programs is fierce, it isn’t so high that a single point will make much of a difference in an admissions decision. Your MCAT has cleared the hurdle for you to be considered for admission by any program. Depending on if your GPA also clears that hurdle, your ECs, LORs, personal statement, story, drive, and interviews will be the determining factors and play significant parts in any committees decision. No two candidates are so identical that a single point of the MCAT is the deciding factor. Best of luck with your application cycle!
