So, this coming Spring I was planning to take organic chemistry 2, biochemistry, physics 2, and genetics. Unfortunately physics 2 and biochemistry are at the same time, so I have to either pick one (would definitely choose biochemistry) and do statistics instead of the other, or take one of them at another school.

I go to UMKC, but KU is my state school so I guess I could conceivably take either of them there as it's only 45 min away and I could always listen to lectures in the car. Studying for the MCAT (which I'll take at the end of May, a full month after classes end) while taking both physics and biochem would be a lot harder than biochem and statistics (which is supposed to be an easy A here).

Would you recommend I lighten my load and take physics 2 over the summer with a professor I know and really like, or take it in the spring at a different school in order to get the extra content for the MCAT? Thanks

Edit:
Wanted to add that I've got a few thousand in scholarships requiring full-time status at my school, so I'm not sure if that would be effected should I go down to 10 hours here and 4 somewhere else..

Bottom line: how feasible would it be to self-study the physics 2 content for the MCAT

The physics 2 content is fairly limited on the MCAT. If you use a prep course, they can teach you a lot of what you need to know. Just grab a prep book from your library!

However since all medical schools require 2 terms of physics, it would seem short sighted to do this. Additionally, with the heavy load this OP has, adding any MCAT prep on top of it would seem a high risk for hit on GPA, lower MCAT score or both. This OP is letting his own application timetable dictate his prereqs where in fact his/her prereq completition and preperation for MCAT dictate his applcation timing

I'm a non-traditional applicant and believe me, I have no intention of applying prematurely. If I'm scoring <515 on practice tests by May I won't even take the test. I honestly would really benefit from an additional year and am not so shortsighted as to be unable to recognize when it's time to put on the breaks. Between school, trying to get extra curriculars in, multiple rental properties to maintain, a husband at home and the desire to have our first child before medical school (I'm 30), I'm definitely not above postponing everything a year. I just wanted to know how feasible it would be to self-teach physics 2 content. If it's any consolation I have a 4.0 GPA at my current school so my course load don't seem to have been an issue thus far. Thanks for your response, I appreciate the input!
