So I have find Cohen's D but display a syntax tracing my route to it. I know the formula is easy, and I already know what it is. I just need a functional way to display on syntax. I'm running a very simple design.
Between-subjects:
IV: MusicType (neutral v sad)
DV: Score on Facial Recognition Task
Mean for neutral group = 94.2
Mean for sad group = 94.5
Independent T-test
T = -.080, df = 15.492

Gonna need some good ol SDs for that puppy. Also, things like SPSS and R will have the syntax for this. Also, this seems like a homework question.
It's an actual data analysis for my final research project. I figured out how to use the compute functions to get categories like (M1-M2) then SD pooled, then I was able to bring em together. Took me a couple hours but felt good!

You know you can jam those suckers into excel and be done in three minutes, right? SPSS syntax isn't good for handling direct calculations.

Yeah, I have an excel spreadsheet set aside for several calculations like this. So much easier.

Yeah I know. My instructor wanted it done through SPSS. I found the answer straight hand in 2 minutes.
However, when I went to turn it in, nobody else in the class could figure it out, and she forgot that there isn't a direct function on SPSS. Wasted all that time for nothing. Oh well lol I got some good practice in.
