When they say it takes 4-8 weeks for SSRIs to work therapeutically, is this due to the down-regulation of the receptors? Wouldn't down-regulating something have a decreased overall effect?
I would think the period before the 4-8 weeks, the patient would be feeling jittery and anxious and super happy.
