I am starting my 2nd year at an Osteopathic Medial School and I was interested in doing my rotations at St. Barnabas. I would like to have some input from any 3rd and 4th year med students on their experiences while doing their rotations at St. Barnabas.

thanks

It's a decent-sized, level I trauma center in the heart of the Bronx. Since you're from Rutgers, I assume you've been to the Bronx and know the surroundings. I wouldnt recommend the housing there.

Overall the hospital is fairly D.O. friendly. I think some Cornell students may linger through there as well, along with the Caribbean schools. The teaching is very department-dependent, some are excellent and some ignore you. There's a ton of students which tends to dilute the experience at times. The hospital proudly displays it's EM program, which does provide great training based on the volume and diverse pathology you see, although it's not overall that academic per-se.

Hope this helps.
