I know this is a very reputable program in NYC but is also a 3 year. If someone wants to stay in NYC does it make a difference when applying for jobs that it is a 3 year program? Is it possible to get a job at a big NYC 4 yr (Sinai, Presby, NYU) program coming out of St. Lukes-Roosevelt?

In general, you will need to work for a bit and/or do a fellowship to be grab a job at a 4 year program if you went to a 3 year.

FWIW as you enter interviews, try to purge your mind of which programs are thought of as "reputable." Trying to like a program for its name or reputation is like choosing Chipotle over Taco Bell because, well, it IS Chipotle.

The reality is that Taco Bell is cheaper, tastier, and a more efficient way to lose weight. You'll also have a higher tat:tooth ratio with the patient population at TB, which usually means better pathology and more learning.

Not trying to infer that you are guilty of this, but just wanted to get this out there as a new interview season gets going.

And now I want chicken tacos. Or maybe a certain kind of burger.
