Hey guys I'm a sophomore pre dent student and had a question. At the moment, my Gpa is a bit on the low side (3.4) but my sgpa is a bit lower as well (3.1). After this semester, both of those should go up since I'm doing well in my MCB class and orgo and math class. However, I want it to be as high as possible before I start applying. I was wondering, do senior year Classes matter at all when filing out forms or is it only the classes through junior year that count? At the moment, I was thinking of taking 20 science credits junior year to boost my sgpa to 3.5+ but wanted it even higher 3.6 or 3.7 and I can't do that before senior year. I really don't want to have to take a gap year. Need opinions: does senior year classes really affect me in my situation?

Ps I've been studying for the DAT and feel confident on getting a 20+

Mostly the classes that you have taken before you apply matter. Everything else would just be an academic update which may or may not be factored in. Some schools might say that you are on the borderline for an interview and will ask for an academic update. It is only important in such a scenario. Bottom line is that whatever the GPA you have when you are applying in June is what is the most important.

Senior year will matter only if you are on borderline applicant, and through the academiheyc update, which happens near november, you can update your summer and fall grades. If adcoms like your performance, they could give you an interview(assuming you have other parts excellent). So will senior year grades affect you? Yes and No. It's really hit or miss situation, since none of us can guarantee you will get an interview on acceptance. And even if you get accepted, you would need to maintain minimum of B or C depending on the conditional acceptance that schools offer you.
Ideally you would want to take 12unit of science classes per term.

^ how can an academic update factor in fall classes if it is done in November and the fall semester is not completed

Sorry for not being clear. It goes from november until end of jan I think.

don't stack classes too if you don't think you can handle them. you're better off taking 1-2 science classes and doing well than trying to fit 3-4 into a semester and realizing you're overwhelmed.
