Does anybody know how you can get Stafford loans? My school sent me the award letter giving me subsidized ($8500) , unsubsidized ($12000) and Grad Plus loans, which add up with the EFC (18K) as the COA.

So I'm wondering if this means that I won't get a Stafford loan or work study? I am working full time and will quit my job to become a full time student, but it seems like my EFC is too high. I emailed them but not sure if they will be willing to adjust it.

Are you talking about medical school? Is your COA 38,500? If so, that's pretty limited (or your tuition is very cheap).

Anyway, your EFC has no bearing on anything other than the amount of subsidized staffords you are eligible for. So you should be able to get 8500 sub staffords, 30000 unsub loans, and not require any grad plus loans as your unsub limit is 32000 (though you can only take out 30000 if your COA was really 38500).
