hi everyone, does anyone know if stanford has come close to filling it's class yet? i have an interview later on in the month, but i'm wondering if it'll just be an interview for a waitlist position, or if they still have room for new acceptances. do any current stanford students know of late interviewers who were accepted last year? i was complete very early so i know i'm not one of their most outsanding candidates if it took this long for my interview to be granted 🙂 thanks for the input!

A friend of mine recently interviewed at Stanford Med. She said that they are still taking people because stanford is very careful in who they give admissions to. They will admit you if and only if they know you will go there.
My friend also said that the admissions dean mentioned that in the past 7yrs, only 1 or 2 people have been taken off the waitlist.

Stanford still has yet to fill its spots. They seem to be taking longer than years past (which has always been on the longer side!).

True, it's tough to get off the waitlist there. Last year no one on the waitlist made it off.

Yeap, I feel the same way. BUT I've heard they're really really delayed this year. Anyhow, I know of a quite a few 1st years at Stanford who interviewed in March. Whatever, this is my speculation. Good luck! You will do well.

Doubt you'll be at much disadvantage. They interviewed and then waitlisted a lot of people this year, so the spots are still there...

Here's a related question: If you haven't been offered an interview yet, what are your chances?

In my case, Stanford still hasn't gotten back to me regarding physics lab requirement waiver I sent to the Dean when I filled out my secondary. Initially, when they first told me to send the waiver, they said 9 out of 10 times the waivers are accepted, but I still haven't heard anything. I phoned them around noon on Friday and I'm awaiting a response.

I interviewed there about 2.5 weeks ago (invite in early Jan) and they said that at that point they were only about halfway through their admissions cycle. So it is still very possible to get an interview and to be accepted.

Everytime I saw your screenname, I can't help but associate it with "Super EGO"...hehe

Oh and by the way, a rumor I heard was that if you don't hear back regarding a decision after 4+ weeks, things are usually not looking so good. (However, it could be some adcom members wanna clarify things on your LORs with the letter writers, etc.) I'm just saying in general.

Nice😀 this application process has done a lot of damage to my once massive ego. Pls keep those rejections coming

Stanford's running a bit behind this year with admissions... some personnel transitions. Definitely come interview!

I think same thing happened to my student interviewer. He is a MD/PhD student and he interviewed after the second-look weekend when he applied. Second look weekend is like May 4 or 5 this year.

Not quite so, last year nobody was taken off of the waitlist, but the year before, 12 were taken off of the waitlist. However, that was unusual and normally, there is very little movement.
