Have any of you done the Stanford/Nepal Volunteer work. It's hard to explain it, but if you've done it you know what I'm talking about. I would love to do it, but the price is pretty steep (the packets say, on average you'll need ~$2,000). But if I'm gonna fork over the cash, I wanna know that it's worth it. I don't wanna go all the way over there, spend all that money, and not even do anything. So, if there's anyone out there that has done it, let me know how it was. Thanks in advance!

I'm from the bay area but haven't heard of this ... volunteer work that requires money on top of your time?

For an alternative, check out Medea Benjamin's SF-based organization, Global Exchange. They network w/ tons of groups & have lots of volunteer opps that don't require you to shell out so much money. Beware of the programs that charge so much.
