When do classes/other related activities usually start in the Fall?

As usual . . . it depends. Some universities start early August, others mid-August, others later in August, and still others in September. Not very helpful, eh? 😉 I believe most universities start "sometime in August" but there will be variations, of course.

Like Paramour says, depends on the program.

At the grad level its also important to distinguish "When classes start" from "When you're actually supposed to be there".

For example, we "officially" started close to the end of August. However I was on the payroll from August 7th, and you better believe I was working my butt off long before I ever walked into my first grad school class😉

We started September 26 or so, and I moved in September 15, but we're on the quarter system here. I'd say mid/late August is more likely.

Orientation activities usually start the second week of August here. Almost everyone I know arrives around August 1 to set up their place and get settled first.
