I have been accepted to a DO school that begins in early July. I plan to attend this school if not admitted to either waitlist schools that I am on. I am on the first tier of OUWB and bottom half of UNMC. My concern is that since OUWB has a commit to enroll of July 15th this would mean a good amount of movement could occur during this time which is after class starts. If I am pulled from the waitlist after I start class at the DO school, how would that work? It is my first choice to go MD but do not know if withdrawing and giving the financial aid back to the DO school a couple weeks in would affect me any.

I would check first to see if you can matriculate to another school and then withdraw. I'm guessing that's not a possibility so you may need to gamble for MD. With that said, isn't all of first tier accepted? I would give a call or well thought out email to admissions and inquire about your situation.

The email regarding my position on the waitlist does not state anything regarding automatic deferment if not accepted this year.

Most of the wait list movement has already occurred by the 1st week of July. So if you have not received an acceptance by the day before you start at the DO school the chances are low that you will receive one later in July. You will just have to wait and see what happens.

Theoretically you can withdraw from the DO school, but may still owe for the first term's tuition and fees, since you will have matriculated. And will you rent an apartment? You could owe a full year's rent if the unit can't be re-rented. You might check the fine print on school tuition policies and your rental agreement on those points.
