I was just wondering how all you new grads (like me), are feeling about being a resident the last 2 weeks? I'd also like input from older residents as well. Since I'm on call all weekend and not going out with friends, well then the internet/sobriety is my friend. This sucks writing it on a Saturday night, exhausted of running around taking consults, going to the ED and medically treating all our in-patients (I feel like an internal medicine resident, no joke!). But, you know what, it's an awesome feeling and I wouldn't trade in the 80 hr weeks for anything. This is just my experience, but I'm sure some of you guys can relate.

80-hour weeks?! How are you able to "goof-off" on the internet...or sleep...or do anything at all?

If you're someone who exercises for 1.5-2 hours every day, is this something that will have to come to an end during podiatry school/residency?

I still workout. I'll go to the Ballys here in downtown Philly 4-5 times a week, for about an hour each time. You just need to prioritize you time. I also am not married or do not currently have a girlfriend, so being selfish with my time is easy. I eat, sleep, work(do residency stuff), go out and workout. It's all about balance, otherwise you'll go crazy!

Two C ankles, a midnight gas gangrene call and a consult for bilat ulcers full of maggots. All in all not a bad first week. This is going to be a long ( but awesome) three years.
