Does Rhode Island have a contract with any vet schools? And if so, how the hell did you find this information? I have been searching for an hour, I really don't understand why its so hard to find this information... seems like they're trying to hide it (though I have no idea who 'they' are)

I dont think they have any contracts, unless its new.

Best bet is to look at schools that take large numbers of OOS, or schools that let you gain IS tuition after the first year.

Or, move now and establish residency somewhere else

If you can afford it, get a cheap apartment in your state of choice (preferably a state/school that takes more IS then OOS), sublet if you can, change your drivers license and voter card ASAP, and you should be golden by the time you apply next cycle (may be close though - as its best to give it a year).

What I ended up doing for the most part

Or have a kick ass application and fight for one of those ever elusive OOS spots

To the best of my knowledge, I have never signed anything that says I spent the majority of my time in any one state or location.

Where you live is your business. Hell, when I lived in NYC, I spend 95% of my time living and working in NJ (but still kept NYC residence for school tuition purposes).

Check out the laws a requirements to get residency where ever you are interested. In some states, all you need is an address, a drivers license, ect.

Now I don't know, perhaps you sign something to get a drivers license that states you will live there for x% of the time. But if Hillary can do it in NY, I can do it in another state.

I am just planting the seed, its up to you to look into the details and legality

No Imagination- is that what you did for Mississippi or were you OOS there? I seem to remember that their IS odds are VERY good. I thought you had to work in MS to fulfill residency requirements, but if that's not the case, there may be a new address in my future.

No work needed in Mississippi... don't know the other rules however. To awnser your question, I started out doing this route, because MS like many other states have a caveat in their rules that say if you are a student, you cannot gain IS status, so I started off just living there, then applied as a MS, but made sure the dates didn't really line up (lived before school) - didn't have a problem, no one seemed to care
