Hi,
I'm in my final year of residency, and have applied for my state license (It's been a couple mos). I checked the status online today and although most items are received or accepted, my FCVS profile is listed as "failed/rejected".

I thought the whole point of FCVS was to verify credentials, so not sure why it says this (my packet was processed and submitted to the State Board ~2mos ago). Have not heard from the Board yet about what this status means, and they are notoriously slow with email.

Anyone else ever have something similar?

so even though the FCVS says rejected it was send to the board? that's what I understand from your post. Call the FCVS and see what they tell you re: reject status.

My FCVS packet was processed, completed, and sent to my State Board (Ohio) on May 27 (I was not told of any problems by FCVS, and of course it cost $295). For over 2 months, the online status of my state board application was not updated, and when I inquired, I was told it takes 10-12 weeks before they can update my status. I finally got a status update on 8/11. All of my forms and documents to date are listed as "accepted"; however, the FCVS is listed as "rejected/failed". I take this to mean that the State Board has rejected my FCVS, for what reason I do not know. I am waiting for their reply.

But you have a good point about calling FCVS and finding out how it passed their Quality control, but then the board rejected it. I'll see what I can find out. I really don't want to pay for another FCVS, on top of all the license fees.

So, I called FCVS and was told this can happen sometimes. Usually the state board will let them know what's missing and the send it, but they haven't heard anything yet. I left both voice and emails for the contact person at my state board, but still no response from them...So still waiting...😴

is this for a florida license? I did mine this year and it was a pain in the freaking ass.

No, it's for Ohio. But I hear any state can be a pain!
Still have not heard anything back...You know I started the whole process in March? It's now late August and now they figure out something's wrong?!?

I know, one of my LOR was sitting on a desk for one month. Nobody told me nothing until I call (Florida makes it very clear that they are not happy when you call, but after asking about the LOR they told me "Oh yeah, we have the letter but is not good"). In other words, it was sitting there for 1 month they knew it was not good and instead of telling me about it they waited for me to call and then they told me I shouldnt be calling because they are very busy.

It was incredible!!!

It won't help but if you think this isn't typical of FCVS please read some of the earlier posts here. Many of us had have issues with them.

I am still waiting, over 3 years later, for them to correct THEIR error which has me as a Vascular Surgeon. 😡

Sorry to hear about that 🙁
Unfortunately in Ohio, FCVS is a requirement, not an option. I feel like if I could send everything myself (notarized, in sealed envelopes), it would go much smoother, but that's a no-no 😡

Oh I know that its required in some states. I just wanted to point out that they are hardly the epitome of efficiency and that I'm not a bit suprised you are having trouble.

Sorry to hear about your problems. For anyone else out there that is applying to a state that doe not require FCVS, avoid it like the plague. They are slow, not very competent, and condescending when you actually talk to them. My application took so long that it threatened to delay the start of my practice. FInally I did it myself. What you pay them $300 to take at least 3 months to do I was able to do for $50 in a week and a half.

All for now, go back to your spaghetti O's,
I am the Great Saphenous!!!!

So weird thing is no one ever contacted me either from the state board or FCVS regarding the original issue, but today when I checked my license application status online, I miraculously got my license today 😀 It took almost 7 months!!!

I, like yourself, applied for an Ohio license in the spring and had trouble with FCVS. I really can't understand what the hell takes them so long to get things done. I applied for my Oklahoma license for my fellowship the year prior, collected and sent all the required documents myself, and received by license a month and half after I began the application.

I'm glad you posted this because it reminded me that I needed to write a letter to the Ohio Medical board and encourage them to stop requiring the use of FCVS. It's beyond ridiculous!

Does OH have a non-fcvs option? There is a question about birth certification on FCVS. Are there any other documents that one can submit in lieu of birth certification?
Unfortunately, Ohio requires the use of FCVS. So I would start the process ASAP.

I too went through the fcvs process. And I am not sure who they are working for? I originally thought it was supposed to make my life easier, but it really doesnt. I figured out they are really there to make the boards life easier. Because i am all credentialed with them and if I wanted to get my fcvs profile sent out it would take them one month to get that info out. That is after they have credentialed and verified all of my credentials already. Unbelievable. i hate in efficiency so I got into the hugest screaming match with them and then i figured out they are working for the state boards. They think every applicant is an axe murderer so they will tirelessly try to prove that fact until they cant, so it takes time. The state boards like florida and texas and ohio are absolutely one of the biggest jokes going. Florida you have to quit your job just to get the application done. It would probably take me 3 years to get a florida license alone with 3000 dollars.

Yep...this is true.

I had a friend who was leaving Pennsylvania for a job in another state that wanted her to use FCVS.

Mind you she had used FCVS when she got her job in Pennsylvania. Nothing had changed. Not her medical school, not her residency, not any licensing.

FCVS RECREDENTIALED HER...took them almost 9 mos (she was a foreign grad) starting from scratch and repeating all the work they had done 3 years prior. Its idiotic.😡
