To anyone in vet school or those who have visited: do you find that the political leanings of the students reflect those of the state that the school is in? Perhaps different for state schools accepting mostly in state residents vs. ones with more geographically diverse student body?

Have politics affected your experience in vet school?

A&M definitely has politics similar to the rest of Texas. I'm from West Texas, so A&M is less conservative than my side of Texas, but it's still conservative in politics. It is definitely one of the less geographically diverse schools, though, so that does make a lot of sense.

Oklahoma is in the bible belt and the state is largely conservative. I suppose that the people here, including students, are probably mostly Republican... but colleges tend to be blue spots even in red states. I guess some issues could arise, but I will say that I'm not exactly your standard Christan conservative Republican and I don't feel like I've ever been treated unfairly.

Wow, I totally didn't think to mention that, haha! I haven't actually attended classes or anything at A&M, and admittedly, there is no way it could make me feel anywhere near as much as an oddball as the conservative Christian undergrad institution I'm currently attending, but I didn't feel at all judged or out of place despite the prevailing conservative view.
Again, though, that may be because I've already been attending a much more conservative university.

I'm an undergraduate at A&M and don't have extreme conservative values like most people here and I'm treated the same as most everyone else. The only trouble makers are the zealots and they're everywhere, A&M or where ever.

I'm also an Atheist in a, I'd wager, 90% (and that's a generously low estimate) Christian school but again, whenever I mention it people don't have beef with it. A couple people try and discuss my heathen ways with me but they're quickly silenced with a 'no thanks' for the most part.

Good for you for standing up in what you believe in 👍

Oh good, that gives me hope for me and my heathen ways!
