do you have to take state specific exams after graduating from dental school for the state you wish to practice in?

i'm interested to know about the requirements for practicing in california (where i live now), but will be going to dental school at NY. Would it be hard to find associate jobs in cali and eventually start a practice having graduated from an east coast school?

Requirements in each state change... NY has just gone to a manditory residency and no need for exam.

Many states take regional boards, some individual state boards.

Check with the state board of any state you are interested in. They should have the most up-to-date info.

For Practice info.. often the ADA has info on where there i a need.
