Given that I won't be able to afford medical school, I was thinking of changing my residency to some state where medical schools have the cheapest in-state tuition. What states would those be?
I know Texas has got to be on the list -- but better get moving! It takes a year of 'non-student' residency to qualify. By non-student, I mean going to graduate school won't qualify. Working full time and/or buying real estate can help establish the start of residency. READ the fine print though.

Relatively few can afford to pay cash for tuition and cost of attendance. That's why US medical students are eligible for loans that cover those costs.
