I was put on the waitlist at both school.
If I get into both schools, I would like current student perspectives on their education at these two schools.

Thank you

I'm a 4th year at UB and I just matched at my first choice, Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian/Cornell! Needless to say, I am very excited and therefore have nothing but positive things to say about my med school. Overall, I think all of the SUNY schools are comparable. That being said, I think there are some distinct advantages to UB. First of all, it is the only SUNY med school, to my knowledge, that is affiliated with nationally ranked hospitals (Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital are both consistently ranked amongst the top 20 in US News). Secondly, it does receive a decent amount of research funding, although Stony Brook has also grown as a research university in recent years. There is a newly implemented systems-based curriculum at UB that I have heard positive things about. The bottom line is that the schools are comparable, but I am biased to say UB is better. I got a great education, performed extremely well on the boards, and matched at my top choice (as did alot of my classmates). I think the fact that UB is an older institution with private roots doesn't hurt either. If you chose either school, I'm sure you would get a good education. Good luck!
