Hey guys, so I see a lot of people probably wondering where they sit in world of SMP admits and not admits....

For the veterans in the forums, would you mind posting your stats and SMP decisions?

cGPA
sGPA (if known?)
MCAT/DAT/GRE
SMPs Accepted
SMP Attended
Any other input...?

I know it would help me, and a lot of others on the board a bit too shy to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Agreed, that would be very helpful.

I'm in an SMP now. PM me if you want general numbers. But what I will say is this...

SMP's are generally a notch below med school admissions criteria, and some even go beyond that criteria IMHO when it comes to EC's, experience, distance traveled, etc. I have friends that have either been in or are currently in SMP's (2 others) besides the one I am in so I can speak to 3 of them.

GPA's range from near 4.0's to just below a 3.0. MCAT's I've heard of in SMP's anywhere from mid-30's to 25 range.

It really depends varies person to person, but generally as said elsewhere on this forum an SMP is a make or break deal and you should be coming with near-med school criteria at that point because after the SMP year there's not a whole lot more you can do to better your application academically sans MCAT retake and job/research while applying.

But I digress...you wanted stats.

I was in the military for 10 years both enlisted and officer and ended my active time in charge of 50+ sailors.

I spent all of my undergrad time with a part-time job as a radiation safety tech and did 2.5 years of volunteering in an NF-1 research lab.

Decided the ship life wasn't for me so I sort of fell into the career-changing/needs a little boost category for my application and an SMP fit the bill.

Again backgrounds and stats vary person to person but if applying to an SMP a successful application will be bringing near med-school stats, EC's, etc. to the table.

Hope this helped.
