Anyone notice that the link for hotels to stay at while at Duke has been dead since interviews started rolling in? Am I the only one having this problem?
If you want a hotel, I'd look at the University Inn or the Brownstone Inn. Both are about a ten minute walk from the Duke Clinic, where the admissions office is located. You can find them both online. Make sure you tell them you're interviewing at Duke and you'll get a special rate. I stayed at the Brownstone. It seemed a little nicer than the Universtiy Inn.
There was also a hosting option when you signed up for the interview. If you have trouble getting a hotel I am sure you could call the admissions office and they will help you either find a student host for the evening or give you some advice about hotels. I have found Duke to be nothing but helpful during this admission process - I really liked that you even selected your lunch meal choice for the day of the interview on the website. Best of luck finding a place to stay and good luck with the interview.
Call the MedLodging number the site refers to. A receptionist books your room for you. You tell her how close you want to be and a price range. She books many area hotels.
I went to the University Inn. It was $55 and the room was awesome. 2 beds, microwave, fridge, AC, cable, wireless internet. The bed was clean and comfy. The breakfast in the AM is coffee, cereal, yoghurt, and costco type pastries.
