A typical self centered arrogant idiot who thinks he is better because he is US student.
B-b-but he was part of God's plan!

Yeah right whatever , if that is Gods plan for him or her so be it but shouldn't condemn Gods plan for others as well.B-b-but he was part of God's plan!
It might also be God's plan for a student to go to the Caribbean and flunk out or barely make it into an FM residency or never make residency. Could it include a a highly competitive residency? Sure. But it seems like that's not God's plan for most IMGs.
Where your thoughts are wrong:
1) You say they "barely make it into an FM residency" - This states as if there is an in between from making it and not making it? Do you mean SOAP? SOAP highly favors US seniors more so than the match.
2) "that's not God's plan for most IMGs" - most implies more than 50% whereas the USIMG match rate for 2013 was 53%. This includes all carib and not just the big 4.
The statement "God's plan for most IMGs" is referenced towards the placement of IMGs into very competitive residencies. That is why I placed it after saying that IMGs COULD place into competitive residencies, but it is not the norm or typical. In fact - the scenarios I mentioned were potential. It's also possible that an IMG easily matches into FM. And as the poster above said, "barely matching" could mean matching to your lowest ranked program, SOAPing, or ranking a bunch of EM programs and getting placed into the second of your two backup FM programs.Where your thoughts are wrong:

In 2002 there were a little over 5,000 spots more than US MD graduates. In 2013, there were over 8,000. According to this, residency spots are rising faster than US MD spots are.
Edit: I realize that DO schools are filling the gap more, but it doesn't mean that the end is near for IMGs.
Guys, I have to admit something. As you know, I am an intelligent and witty poster, but to your surprise, I am an IMG at a Big-4. I know this comes to you as a shock, I hope you can please, please remember that IMGs are people too and we come in all forms.
Even the best of us are IMG. Think of me as Mike in Suits. I may have not gone to Harvard, but I practice like I did.
