Hi all. I just got my step 2 ck score today and I'm a bit dissapointed I have to say. I dropped 6 points compared with step 1, from 227 to 221. Now I'm worried about the implications of this. Keep in mind that I'm not applying to top tier programs. Still I think this might hurt my chances of matching to my top choice. I've heard of people getting a higher step 2 than step 1 but never the other way around. Will this put me at a disadvantage when compared to someone who barely passed step 1 but did better in step 2? I have tons of extracurriculars and leadership and some research. Still I'm a bit worried. Any insight would be very helpful. Thanks!!

Hi Beagle (I'm biased towards dachsunds),

I think those are still above average scores and you've done fine...especially if you've gone to HMS as your screenname implies!

Also consider your LOR's, other grades, etc in your application...it's not that bad at the end of the day!

Go enjoy your day, grab a beer, chill it, this is the only time in our careers that we'll be able to enjoy ourselves as such! It's over and done, no more time wasted worrying, focus on perfecting your interview now, that is what is in your hands!

G'luck mate! :luck::luck::luck::xf::xf::xf:(for you),
A😀

I believe the HMS Beagle was the boat Charles Darwin used in his travels.

I don't believe it will hurt you, from what I've read. Both are good scores. I have my doubts that Step 2 tends to change many programs minds about an applicant, unless they are at one extreme or the other.
