I am just starting my rotations for my 3rd year. When is a good time to purchase Uworld???
Some have said right away, others have told me to wait till I learn more information.

Also, has anyone ever used kaplan flashcards, or any flashcards which were beneficial?

Thank you

I bought Uworld at the start of 3rd year and did the questions for each corresponding clerkship. I didn't just use Uworld though. Also used Case files for some rotations, Step Up to Medicine for IM clerkship, and FA for psych during psych. I found that by the time I went to prepare for step 2 I didn't run into any problems "remembering" the questions if you will. Maybe a couple here and there, but overall it was like using a new question bank again.

I think you'll find whats been echoed in other threads probably more useful for step 2 prep.

But, in short- study hard for 3rd year clerkships. I did FA and case files for psych, FA and case files for OB (FA isn't as good for this), case files and Step Up for IM, Case files and NMS surgery for surg, For peds i did have case files but didn't find it as good as the others, and for family I just read FA for step 2 CK (no really great family sources). I did UWorld's specific questions for each clerkship, and as I said before, went through it again for CK studying. I also bought the clinical mastery series tests from the NBME before each shelf. (Kinda pricy, but get an extra 100 questions and get to see what the shelfs are like).

Other than that, I actually am one of the suckers that bought DIT for step 2 CK. I thought it was worth it for me, ended up with a 275.

Do you think that DIT + Uworld + all the studying for shelf exams was enough? Do you know anyone else who thought DIT for step 2 was worth it?

I thought it was for me. There are tons upon tons of people who don't even do DIT, but I liked getting a break from reading. And no, I don't know anyone else who bought DIT.
