Take it earlier rather than later. The sooner after "Cores" are done, the better...this way you'll have the peace of mind the rest of the way (well, assuming you'll be relaxed during the match😀 )
In terms of resources, this is what I thought:
-Crush The Boards=Must have
-First Aid for Step 2=No where close to FA for Step 1. A good adjunct, but I actually put it away after a few days
-Prescriptions and the other books similar to Crush The Boards are supposedly as good (very similar according to friends)
-Q-Bank (On-line)=Awesome resource if you read all correct and incorrect answers. A little too picky at times (Kaplan generally is) and not the same level of difficulty
-Appleton and Lange's 1000 Q book=Not reflective of USMLE Style (in my opinion, people may disagree)
The exam itself: More enjoyable than Step 1 because of clinical angle, Absolutely more time consuming due to longer passages and more critical thinking, and less stressful than Step 1 since you've been there already.
Hope this helps!
