Step 2 CK date

Hey,

Is September 2nd a late date to take CK? i.e will programs require my scores before october to send interviews?

Some will, some won't. It all depends on who you are (i.e. AMG vs IMG), what field you're applying to, and what programs within that field.

In that case, it's totally fine for most programs. You'll have CK scores available before ranking, and very few programs will require a Step 2 score for an interview.

I am a DO student. I didn't take USMLE Step 1. However, I am registered to take USMLE Step 2 in Mid-September. I was actually wondering if I want my Step 2 score to be counted, am I taking it too late? I am applying to Internal Medicine programs.

There is at least one program that says they prefer DO students to take at least one of the USMLE exams. I will contact that particular program too.

i'd talk to the programs. i'm do, too, and i have to take all 3 usmles b/c some programs i'm applying don't accept comlex.

but i'm taking my comlex 2-ce soon and will take usmle 2-ck sometime in sept/early oct and have usmle 1 on the sat after nov (since i'm do, i can take them out of order and it makes sense to take 2-ck right after my comlex 2-ce).

only issue for me is that comlex 2-pe and usmle 2-cs are in jan. there's more dates for 2-pe now so i'll move that to before the end of 2011 and i'm currently on the email list to hear if usmle 2-cs dates open up during 2011 (so that i can move it) in philly. if not, the 2-cs score might not be back in time to rank but i'll call and let programs know it's coming and everything else (all 3 comlex plus the 2 written usmle) will be in by that time.

mid-sept should have ur step 2 score back way b4 2011 ends and the programs don't put their rank lists in til 2/22/12. i think most programs might still interview w/o it esp if u have ur other scores.

IMG's are a different story. A step 2 CK score is probably manditory at many programs for interview. In fact, some programs require full ECFMG certification. Each program will be different, you should check each program's website for their requirements.

hello apd,

from the above posts, it is mentioned that a early/mid Sept date will be available before ranking. I thought this would not even be an issue for ranking since an early spetember date should be back by late sept or first week october (much before ranking). Is that not the case anymore? maybe it has changed since the new ck delay system but I thought 3-4 weeks would be the goal.
