Hi,

during your exams did you find it necessary to actually do opthalmascope on pts that it wud be indicatd in like HTN or DM?

also when you ausculated the heart in a female, did you auscultate the apex, asking the pt to lift up her breast? or is the aortic pulm and tricuspid auscultaion enough?

for ROS, is it ok to just put negative except as above like how they have it in first aid? thanks!

so how u did during exam ?

I passed. My ICE was a little low but well above the passing line. To fail, you need 6 stars to be all way to the left if I recall. I wasn't anywhere near that.

I did quick opthalmascope on HTN or DM pts if I remembered.

I only auscultated two points on the heart in all patients.

For ROS, I put negative except as above.

Congrats for passing the test and thanks Bagheera for the feedback.
what about auscultating apex in a female cardiac pt ?
did u encounter any real physical findings in any pt ?

I did not auscultate the apex in any female patients. I did not think it was necessary for any of my cases and I tried to be as noninvasive as I can with my patients doing things only if it was necessary. No real findings were found on pts. some pts can fake things though. make sure u practice with someone going over all first aid cases, pratice the note well timing urself with 2 minutes less, and work on your rapport and interspersonal skills while asking questions ur study partner.

Thanks Bagheera for taking time to respond and also thanks for all the important tips.

Congratulations for passing Bagheera. I just would like to ask what did you do in establishing rapport with the SP. Thank you.
