Step 2 CS Scheduling Problems?

Is it normal for the Step 2 CS scheduling to look so impossible? I was hoping to take it in June or July of next year, and the last several times that I have logged on there are literally no openings at any of the sites during these months (well, there are a couple at the beginning of June, but it's when I'll still be on surgery). There is an opening on a day that might work for me over spring break, but I will not have finished 4th year yet (would be missing psych and surgery still).

Is the scheduling booked up like this every year? Should I just plan on fitting it in early 4th year or something? The problem with trying to do this is that I signed up too early, and will only have until next September before my 1 year window closes. Or, maybe lots of openings pop up as we get closer as people shuffle their schedules around (although with no openings I'm not sure where exactly they'd be shuffling to)? Thanks for any input!

Yep. There are only a handful of testing sights and so many people take it. Between AMGs, DOs, IMGs, and FMGs, there are a plethora of people and each site accommodates maybe 15-20 per day.

Just keep checking and rechecking. People do change their dates. It's just a matter of catching it before someone else dose.

you can sign up for email alerts for dates you are interested in. Just get there fast after the email because it may be gone by the time you check it.

I suggest finishing 3rd year, taking step 2 CK next, and then soon after take CS. Everything will be super fresh in your mind. CS doesn't require a lot of studying anyway but regardless it is definitely something you do not want to fail.
