Step 2 cs ---sp lab result case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine it would depend on the lab results.

You may as well examine them anyway, in the unlikely event you get a scenario that does not go along with doing an exam, if the alternative is leaving the room early because there's nothing left to talk about.

I have never heard of anyone getting a case of this type, however.

I would. Unless the instructions say "take a history from this patient"?

I was only instructed to do a history on a woman with a gyn problem as one of my cases.

I had one pt who was dressed in street clothes. He was in basically for a psych problem. So I included my mental status exam, or at least as much of it as I could remember, under PE in my note. (And I asked q's I would never ask in real life - like recalling 3 objects after a few mins in someone I have no concerns about memory.)

I would say street clothes = no exam. Gown = possible exam focusing on pertinent findings, for example thyroid results, thyroid findings like reflexes.

And dont sweat it too much! I dont have my grade yet and I know I made a lot of mistakes (wish I had asked that, or forgot to council on quitting smoking, or didnt check for a physical finding), but I think the grading curve is pretty generous.

And if you fail, its probably because you didnt offer a pt a cup of water when he or she was coughing!
