As a DO, do I need to have this done early for interview season or to match? Im likely applying only allopathic. As DOs we take it in the middle of nowhere and spots are filling up extremely fast. Looks like november is the earliest I can take it, but I don't want to take it in november if it is going to interfere with interview dates. What do you guys think? Important to cram it in as early as possible or can I wait till December/January?

My understanding is that CS really is unimportant as long as you pass it eventually. I haven't been asked about it on any interviews and I won't find out my score for at least another month.

Now if you have time early on, I would just take it. It really is just a waste of money (or money maker for NBME if you look at it that way) for English speaking US grads. That being said, look over First Aid for CS to make sure you know the setup of the exam. You don't want to fall into that 1% that does fail it.

Thanks for the response. I went ahead and signed up for nov 13 which was the earliest date I could get. Will periodically check it and try and move it up if possible. If it starts to interfere with interview dates and I cannot move it up, I may push it back to get it out of the way of interviews also.

I think that will work.

I hope you are talking about the COMLEX II PE instead of the CS as taking both is not necessary. One key thing is to review all your OMM for the 3-4 cases that will require its use. In general, review a few techniques for each area (extremities, C, T, L, S spine, trunk/abdomen) and know them cold. You'll know which cases you have to use OMM on (they will specifically tell you).
