step 2 with only taking Comlex step 1

One more question. My one friend was wondering if she could still take USMLE Step 2 if she did not pass Step 1 but passed COMLEX Step 1. Would she have to report her score from USMLE step 1 if she just wanted to report her step 2 score if she does well?

I currently have taken (and almost undoubtably passed) the COMLEX 1. I might be interested in allopathic residencies because there are limited osteopathic neurology residencies. I am currently planning to take the STEP1 on AUG 25th, but at this point I am burning out hard and forgetting things at a major pace, and clinical rotations are eating into my study time. Does it make sense to just make sure I pass and do well on the STEP 2 while applying to allopathic residencies (early enough to get the score in before my apps of course). Will this be enough to convince allopathic programs of my skills being equal as an osteopathic applicant or do I need to take STEP 1 as well???

Good question and I'm glad you have the insight to ask this vs. take USMLE Step 1 "just to see how you do?" Here's my advice:

Take one (or 2, preferrably) of the NBME practice tests (#1 is a bit easy, so take forms 2, 3, and/or 4). If you score a 220+, take the USMLE asap.

If you score <220, cancel your exam, focus on rotations, and just kick butt on USMLE Step 2, an infinitely easier test to study for than Step 1. (One-2 books and USMLEWORD question bank is all you need for Step 2).

Hope that helps! G'luck.
