Hi, I'm a fourth year medical student who will be taking Step 2 CK in another 4 weeks. I have not been studying throughout the year as I had been for Step 1 because I simply had no time.

I did really well (244/99) on my Step 1 exam, but am really stressed out because our school has a policy where we are required to to take Step 2CK by Oct 15th. I really want to get into a radiology program and I am going to submit my application in another day or two. Will residency programs ask me my score during interviews? I feel much less prepared for Step 2CK than Step1 and I didn't do as well in third year (straight B's) as in my second year (almost straight A's).

I'm really stressed out about this. Thank you so much for your help

When you apply, you have the option of automatically submitting new USMLE scores to all your programs or not. If you leave this box unchecked, you can later go in and elect to send the scores to individual programs (for a fee, I believe).

I've heard different things about whether or not to leave this box unchecked. At least one PD says he gets worried when the box is not checked. He says he worries that maybe you failed step 2, so he'd rather go with an applicant who doesn't have this wild card.

But it seems like tons of folks do leave the box unchecked.

At any rate, the number one predictor of how well you'll do on step 2 CK is your step 1 score. I'm sure you'll do fine. Just work your way through a couple of the recommended books, do the practice questions, and rock out on test day.

Just get your application in asap. Some people say that for many of the competitive programs stop looking at aps by the second week of september.
