Step 3 Registration in New York State: What are steps and how long does it take?

Hello, everyone.

I am a resident in New York State. I know other states are easier to apply in, but I want to register in New York State for my Step 3. In fact, I have already done so.

I have completed the online form at the FSMB website, and I have made my payment. Tomorrow, I will get my picture taken, complete the CID (Certification of Identity) form, get it notarized, and send it back to the FSMB.

Is there anything else I need to do? (Keep in mind I am an IMG in my 2nd year of residency.)

Also, how long do I have to wait until they approve me so that my eligibility period begins?

Oh crap, I think I've screwed myself...

Looks like the medical license is a requirement...

I will now desperately try to see if they can change the state I registered in... Crap.

i just had the SAME problem!! Were you able to change change NY to another state...and if so...which state?

A lot of NYC residents apply through Connecticut. Virginia is also a good one because it has no rules on when to take the exam or licensure requirements.
