Hey Guys

Could anybody suggest to me the best way to prepare for step III ??

What time frame does a PGY 1 level candidate require to have a clear/ decent pass ?

I was thinking of Kaplan Q Bank, probably repeating Step II questions, cuz it is the same stuff they examine I thought...

Any suggestions...Thanks in advance

I've seen more than one intern using a review book of Family Medicine. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact name, but apparently this book is a decent review for Step 3. I don't know if I would go overboard in preparing, as if you have safely passed 1 + 2 in the past, you'll probably pass 3, and your score doesn't matter as much as the previous two.

Mike, compared to step I and II how easy do you think step III is ?

For me step It took ~ 6 wks ( level of difficulty 8.5/10) for step I, step II took probably 3 wks prep( level of difficulty 6.5/10)
( I took both after graduating, one after another)

Where would you rate Step III ??

Hi,
I guess, Step 3 is the most tough of the 3 steps to clear. Couple of my friends flunked the first time (with a good step 1 & 2 score). I think Swanson's review of family practice and CCS review from Kaplan (CD) should be enough. When in doubt I always refer my Step 2 material. Keep your fingers crossed for this one.

step 3 should be the easiest to clear.
you do need to review all of medicine though, so it depends on how much studying you did during the year and how much of other fields of medicine you got to see.
the swanson book if you know it will be enough

remember you are learning to recognize emergencies. they want to make sure you don't miss psychiatric emergencies or ob emergencies even if you are going to be a pediatrician.

Step I - 2 weeks

you guys only studied for step 1 for 2 weeks.
when was that? before they invented science? 😉

Anybody who has done it could you please suggest to me- From the date you get your application form processed how soon could you do it.

For eg, I am going to do Step III in California State. I am sending my whole application next week, will take ~ 4 wks to get processed ?? Then I get this permit, and Do you guys think I will get a date immediately ??

The reason why I am asking is because I need to make travel arrangements from Australia and it is very costly to get tickets last minute.
