I just got back my Step 1 score of 239. Does anyone have insight into what fields I may be excluded from, or is this a good enough score to essential match in any speciality?(granted I have good LOR, M#3 grades, research, etc.

That score will not keep you out of anything. You should be able to match somewhere in anything. Where you go will depend on the rest of your application and you as a person. Apply to a wide range of programs if you are interested in the competitive residencies.

Thanks gensurg: I am interested in surgery, possibly ortho or neuro. Do you have any suggestions as to what programs are good. I am not interested in being some top academic doc, but would definitely like to train at a institution with a good rep.

thanks

Congrats on your score, from what I hear that score should not hold you back. And just out of curiosity what study techniques and methods did you use?

First Aid(entie book with note from BRS Path and BRS Physio) and Q-bank(did over 1500 questions and about 30 of my step 1 questions were direct repeats) for 1 month 8-10hrs/day
