I just started my internship in Illinois. I was wondering if anyone knows when step 3 is typically taken in the state. I would love to take it before the end of my internship so that when I start my residency I could focus on Radiology.

Check with your PD. I think you take step 3 after your first year, unless you are an FMG (then after your 3rd year). Again, check with your program director (or the sec) 😛

Annette is right. The rules vary state by state. We are required to take Step 1 by the end of the first year (although it isn't apparently stringently enforced).
