Hey guys,

Just a quick question. Is steriochem heavily tested? As in should i worry about which reactions are sterioselective and regioselective?

Also are the actual mechanisms tested? as in with arrow pushing and all that stuff?

thanks!

-No! Steriochemistry is not heavily tested. However, you should still be able to assign R/S configurations to the chiral centers. Also, concepts such as enantiomers, diasteriomers, and/or racemic mixtures may show up on your test.
-Actual mechanisms aren't tested. But it usually helps to know which reactions proceed via a carbocation intermediate, since such reactions could undergo rearrangements.

A piece of advice! Don't try to figure out what's not tested on the exam. When you start doing this, you eventually become lazy and you start skipping certain topics just because you feel they might not be on the exam. However, there's no guarantee and those exact topics may show up on your exam, and as you may know missing 1 or 2 questions on the DAT could severely lower your AA.
