Any good tips on finding the right stethescope. How much should I expect to spend? Where is the best place to look to get the best deal? What features are a must? Also I have a slight hearing loss in my left ear. Is there anything that anyone can recommend that might help with that? Thank.

I would wait till you start medical school. I can't speak on behalf of all schools, but we had a medical equipment sale through SOMA, and got a really good deal on everything. Definitely saved a lot more money purchasing it then versus on my own. Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope is what most of the medical students at our school bought. However, I would imagine there will be some form of equipment sale at your medical school, which will save you some money. Contact your med school to find out if and when they hold a medical equipment sale.

Where are you gonna go? POMA gives every student at my school a stethoscope at our white coat ceremony. I would just wait. I have bad hearing too and the Littman III works well. The biggest problem won't be your hearing, but that you aren't trained to hear things well.

Features that are a must:
Has a Diaphragm and Bell
Nice thick tubing
No more than 27" tubing

Allheart is a good place to find a good deal

For a good intro stethoscope I'd get the cardiology III.

In terms of hearing loss- one of the greatest clinical cardiologists I have ever met actually wears hearing aids so I wouldn't worry about it. Furthermore, I wouldn't recommend that you go for one of those electronic scopes because the sound quality is kinda crappy.
