I am just about to start medical school (well next year but I'm doing a clinical semester now) and someone got me a stethoscope as a gift to use during med school. Is the Littman STC a good stethoscope for all of med school or should I consider something else? It was a gift and I don't know much about stethoscopes so I'm just wondering what all of you think.
Thanks

That will be much more than adequate for med school. You will have no problems auscultating heart sounds. I've got a similar model, but cheaper (master classic II), and there's not a murmur that I've missed, at least when they are pointed out to me. 😀

You'll see lots of discussions on this forum about which is "the best". Bottom line, that stethoscope will deliver everything you need for the forseeeable future. If you really dig cardiology, and you just don't think that's the stethoscope for you, then fine. But I promise, by the time you realize there is another, better steth, the price of a replacement will be about as much as you made off the 30 minute consult you're on your way to see.

Besides, you won't see too many of those in the hospital, so it will be much harder for it to "walk".
