I can't believe it at this point, but I am still agonizing over my rank list and can't seem to come to a definite decision. Part of the problem is, of the 4-5 programs I'm considering, only 2 are categorical, and there's a good chance I'd have to scramble for a prelim year if I picked the advanced ones.

But I liked some of the advanced ones a lot...and it's all coming down to where I would want to live for the next 4 years since these are all in very different cities. Is anyone else still in this embarrassing spot, or am I the only indecisive one? Any last-minute advice? (I can list the programs if that would help).

OK, I can't let it come down to this:

(online magic 8 ball) 😛

So some of my options (for neuro) are UVA, Wash U (both categorical), Columbia, UCLA, MGH (didn't get such a great feeling from that last one). Ideas?

I'm doing a 4th year elective at MGH now. Residents here wear short white coats, which is weird to me. I see a short white coat and I think, oh look, another med student, a potential buddy. Then I see MD, PhD embroidered on their little coat and it just feels like bizarro world.
Probably not the best way to decide your rank list, but it's all I got.

Good luck to you.:luck:

Where are you from? I didnt interview at any of the above but...
If i could go to an undeniable top 5, categorical neuro program in a nice "big, small" city that won't break my bank Id do it...
To me that leaves Wash U
I wouldnt want to do new york, boston or LA. Thats just me

Also what does "not a good feel mean"... were they not over the top exhuberant about you or you actually didnt like something? it its the former dont worry abot it- some places are poker faced. its harvard for chriust sake... but if its the latter then that should prety much answer yourquestion with regards to that program.

My top3 options are UH/Case in cleveland U of Miami and U of Chicago
if you interviewed at any of these Id love to hear your thoughts...
