still no word from 15+ schools post-secondary

Hey guys, just have a quick question. If I haven't heard back from say 15+ schools post-secondary completion since late August - early September, does that mean the majority of these schools have me on hold for an interview, or should I be anticipating a flat-out rejection? I don't know if others have had to wait as long as me. I know schools have been backed up, but doesn't two - three months seem a bit long? Just to be a bit more specific, some of these schools include NYMC, Drexel, St. Louis, Einstein, Tufts, Loyola, Temple, Ohio State, Vermont, Finch, Jefferson, Rochester, Tulane, Creighton, and a couple others. Anyway, any insight would help. Thanks people and good luck!

I'd say the chance that your application is on hold is very high. Jefferson and Einstein, for example, have been sending out my interview invitations already. One thing good about Einstein is that it doesn't hand out the first batch of acceptances until January 15th, so you won't be at disadvantage even if you interview in December or so.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't heard back from 12 schools and I've been complete for almost 3 months. A lot of the schools are the same as the ones you mentioned. Just last week, I re-verified with each school individually that my application + supporting materials had been received.

I was in the same boat, but then heard from three schools just last week. Hang in there!

BTW - The three schools were the University of Washington, UIC, and CCOM.

What a coincindence, UIC and UW were the same ones I heard from last week. So I guess the system is not COMPLETELY random.

I still need to hear from GW, Einstein, NYU, NYMC, Temple, both UMDNJ, and I am on hold at Downstate, Albany, and Upstate. I am not very optimistic, but on the bright side I have a whole bunch of rejections and 1 acceptance, so my decision might be made for me.

I am in a similar boat. I have 2 interviews: Buffalo and Albany, 2 holds: GW and Upsate and I still have not heard from the rest of the schools: Downstate, NYCM, Mount Sinai, Cornell, Rochester, Yale, Boston, Tufts, Vermont, Penn State, Dextel, and a few more. I have been complete for about 5-6 weeks.

Do you think that I might still have a good shot for an interview? Or is it too early to tell?

Call them for pete's sake. I have, with great sucess. Every time I called I got an interview. The schools I never called never contacted me again. Also there is the posibility that you got an interview invite and it was lost.

Definitely call and check to see if anything is missing! Tufts only just sent me letter last week claiming that my letter of recommendation packet (organized by my school) is missing, even though it was sent two months ago. Of course, they had time to cash my check, so I'll be really pissed if I don't at least get an interview because of this!

i doubt that just by calling the schools have been like--ok, we'll interview you. i have called every school on my list, and they will have one of 2 responses:

a) your file is complete.... and that is all we can tell you

b) your file is under review... and that is all we can tell you

i usually ask for my app status and then ask if i can still expect an interview in the future since my file seems to have been under review for a long time at some of these places.

I just asked if maybe there had been a mistake. I thought that I had a good application and had hoped for a chance to interview. Just be polite.

i just called every one of the schools that i haven't heard from. I've been complete at all of them fro 3+ months. They told me nothing but your file is complete/under review/not reviewed yet. Get this...i mailed my completed NYU app on August 4. It hasn't even been reviewed yet!!! And they said the next round of review is not until February! aargh.

what do people think about writing an update letter about new activities you have done that are not on your application, or getting a letter of rec from new jobs/activities, if you are "on hold" for an interview? has anyone tried this? i am waiting on several schools post-secondary and am waiting on ucla for a secondary. i really want to get a secondary from them. what do people think about writing an update letter to get a secondary?

Shockingly a lot of the school prolly havent even looked at your file yet. But I would check your status and see where you stand.

Your list is almost the same as mine, just for the changes I made. I have a few interviews coming up but otherwise complete silence. 😕

I guess silence is better than a rainstorm of rejections ... I have called and checked all the schools and nothing new to add. I remember with Dartmouth they were super nice when I first called, and then one time they were really unfriendly and short; sure enough, a week later I got the rejection letter. I wonder if the staff can see your status when you call. It sur felt like it.

I guess we're all in good company here!

hey guys, thanks for all your responses. i just got done calling all the schools that i haven't heard back from and everysingle one of them said, "your file is complete and under review." it's like, dude, tell me something i don't know! anyway, no luck today. oh, btw, what does "active consideration" mean? i think it's just a fancy, nice way of saying, "WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!" take care people and keep them heads up! good luck!

Also in the same boat...out of 13 schools, 8 have given me no interview news...at least I have no rejections yet, but I've been complete at Harvard and Penn for 2 and a half months, so that's feeling like a rejection right now...

I'm hoping for the best, but lowering my expectations. I'm thinking I might try the whole "I'm going to be in town, how bout an interview" strategy with a couple schools, but on the other hand if they don't want to interview me, why waste the time?

I called like 10 schools and they all said "your application is still being reviewed". But then like 3 weeks later I got an interview from AECOM and a rejection from Dartmouth, so my guess is, like all things in the process, it's completely random. I'd been complete at both schools for well over 2 months.

you should have filled out that uvm secondary....

i think you would have been pleasantly surprised at the school if offered an interview....and they offer a lot to us cali kids.

but regardless...it seems like to me at least.... that some of the schools wont even get to my damn application and just me a rejection letter because they didnt have time to even consider me.... .bleh....

oh well. like you said. whats a poor guy to do haha...😀

I agree with jlee. From what I hear UVM is practically a very expensive CA institution.
