Hi everyone! I just found out today that I have been accepted into Stony Brook University's MSOT program for Fall 2017. Just checking to see who else has heard back/what your thoughts on the program are.

Congrats!! When did you have your interview??

Thank you 🙂 I interviewed on January 13th and just heard back today!

I was also accepted into Stony Brook University's Occupational Therapy Program!

It's a very clinical interview, the questions are not straightforward. They ask you things in a roundabout way. It's 3 faculty asking about 5-6 questions.

Is anyone else still waiting to hear after an interview??
I interviewed November 18th and still haven't heard anything... I emailed them and they said they're still deciding and will probably know in March

They told me I should hear from them 1-3 weeks from 2/24 when I asked and last week was 3 weeks...still haven't heard anything.

Last year (it's my second time applying) when I was waiting this long, I was on their waitlist, but they don't notify you that you're on it, and I finally heard from them in April when I was rejected.

ah ok i didn't realize they didn't let you know if you're on the waitlist... I kinda assumed I was on some sort of unofficial waitlist since they said they're still deciding 4 months later. I wasn't terribly impressed by them as it is though, so I'm fine with it.

anybody received an email from them?
idk when the decision is due

I just received my acceptance email yesterday. I got the acceptance call on 3/8.

The portal states that I have 14 days to give them a decision or I will forfeit my spot in the cohort. I'm currently still waiting on Downstate, because that's my top choice.

is there anyone that can help me with information regarding first aid and cpr certifications?

Red Cross holds day long classes. It's a little pricey (~$115). Check out their website.
do you know what exact classes i need? because on the stony website it just states the general CPR and first aid certification.. I was wondering what specific classes or certifications I need to take?
thanks so much!

I took an adult and pediatric first aid/cpr/aed class. It's valid for two years.
Yeah the Red Cross website is probably your best bet. Otherwise your local community center might have it as a class but make sure you get certification at the end of the course.
I took the Red Cross one and it was a hybrid class - you needed the online component and then went to their site for hands on practice and completion. It was $115 but totally worth it IMO.

For those of you who have already accepted your spot in the program, is there a deposit required to hold your spot? I don't see anything on the SOLAR page or acceptance email about the deposit. I noticed that someone mentioned that there's only a deposit if you want housing, but I just wanted to confirm.

is anyone going to stony brook for sure yet? SBU campus?
im 100% sure I'm going

Hey! Congrats on everyone who received an acceptance! Is anyone still waiting to hear back?

Hello! I have been invited for an interview coming up and I was just wondering if you remembered any questions that they asked that would be helpful to know going in?

Thank you so much! Anything helps, I’m really nervous!
