Hi guys I'm still waiting on a few schools but as of right now I have been accepted at these 3. I think I have an idea of where I would go but I would like to hear some other point of views.
Stony Brook
Pros:
USF Select

Pros:
Stony Brook
Pros:
- Liked the interview day overall
- Family in New Jersey
- Decent reputation, don't think I will be closing off any doors really, not particularly interested in academics
- Offers a 3 year MD program I would be interested in
- Long Island is pretty far out there. I'm from California and the area around the school seemed very rural/suburban
- H/P/F grading system. Not really interested in stressing about every little percent in med school. I've heard SBU has had a reputation for being pretty competitive
- At the moment not completely dead set on matching back into California but would be nice to have that option. Unsure if I will be able to do that easily
- Expensive as an OOS but can establish IS after 1st year
USF Select
Pros:
- Highest ranked of the three
- Decent reputation, don't think I will be closing off any doors really, not particularly interested in academics
- Seems like an up and coming school
- Not interested in packing everything up and moving from Tampa to Allentown, PA after 2 years
- Absolutely hated interview day. Everything was so unorganized, the tour guide didn't even know their way around the hospital (I interviewed in Allentown). Even my interviewer was just a weird guy.
- H/HP/P/LP/F grading. Ew.
- Expensive
Pros:
- Cute school that gave off a really warm vibe at interview day. They knew all about our applications.
- Students seemed happy.
- P/F grading system.
- Only 2 hours away from NYC and family
- Relatively newer school
- No main teaching hospital. They have a bunch of affiliates that you have to commute to for rotations. Some being like an hour away.
- Expensive
