I can do better than that.
That was silly of me.

I want us, all SDNers, to communicate, to discuss, to speak our minds freely, and to be able to share our experiences with one another without resorting to taunts and smart aleck remarks.

It would be wonderful if we can stop jumping to conclusions and respond to threads on URM, DO, sexual orientation with hate.

If somebody created a thread, dont 🙄🙄🙄 at them, they might have a geniune question to ask, and if you feel like they are an utter waste of your time, then dont respond and dont 🙄.

Everybody has different opinions, especially on these touchy issues, and just understand that people are individuals and individuals are different. If someone has a different opinion than you, thats fine. Dont scream, dont shout, dont yell like bannie22 said "ridiculous".

Would be an added extra if mods let people know before saying, you receive a penalty for XXX. Sometimes, we mean no harm.

Hes right, I appreciate your thread title and suggestion. We could all use a few moments to keep cooler, be less judgmental and cynical. I know I have had my fair share of poorly worded statements and comments. I will do my best to avoid those things as best I can. Appreciate the effort but don't turn this into a huge crusade. We all sort of understand what you are talking about. Best of luck.

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." -Dalai Lama

Words of wisdom right there. And that goes for everyone.

That would be called the terms of service and I'm pretty sure that's why they're there.

Conveniently located in a link at the bottom of every page.

funny how everyone abandoned the other thread and migrated towards this one.

bannie's on a rampage tonight. It's full Defcon 5 mode bannie-insanity here.

This is like Independence Day when the president asks the Alien for peace and the thing replies in a horrific tone, 'there can be no peace!'

This is officially the most I've laughed on sdn...ever. I'm ok with what you're saying now bannie, but what I said in the other thread, and will repeat here, is that you must learn to let the little things go. Especially if you want to become involved in healthcare. Anyways, I'm on board with less hate.

teh interwebz is serious 😉

Lets pick this up tomorrow shall we? Go make an appointment with my secretary out front and we will get you better soon. I'm here for you.

Till then folks, im going to Zzzz.

Know your enemy. Know yourself.

Wow. Just....wow.

Yes, but what does Sarah Palin think? I can't form an opinion without knowing that.

i really hope this is all some joke by bannie and this isnt how he is in real life (fixed for rama😛 ). Hopefully he just enjoys getting people riled up. Otherwise.........:laugh:

in real life? there's an acronym for that?....

There's a reason the first part of the oath we'll have to swear as physicians is "DO no harm" and not "MEAN no harm".

Your intentions aren't very relevant in the long run if the effect is negative. If you say something or do something and someone is offended, it becomes offensive by definition. It doesn't matter if it was done in jest, or even with good intentions. As such, receiving a verbal warning for having offended someone is justified with or without explanation.

I think the proper lesson here is this: When you say something, don't just think of what you are trying to convey or the reaction you want to receive. Consider the audience's perspective and think of the reaction you WILL receive based on said perspective.

Very simply: Proofread your posts objectively.

Mods: Continue performing as you were.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day SDN will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all premeds are created equal."

I have a dream that one day, premeds and premeds will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of California, a state sweltering with the heat of premeds, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of premeds holding hands with other premeds.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by other premeds because they might have a lower GPA and MCAT.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Boston, with its vicious competition, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "Oh man I could not get into Harvard medical school" -- one day right there in Boston, Harvard Medical school students will be able to join hands with premed students who have a 2.5 GPA.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go on SDN with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to drink together, to struggle together, to get a low GPA or MCAT, to stand up for stupid ECs, knowing that we will be accepted one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

You sure dream in detail - I just dream about random stuff like going to school.... 🙄

I agree with Sammich117, Bannie you have been very disruptive on a number of threads. This thread is well.. juvenile to say the least. On par with a ritalin overdose. Not to be offensive, but social skills count for something online as well. Thats all I have to say. Its no surprise you dont see any of this nonsense in the senior forums. Just saying.

Spectacular. You should burst into this randomly at an interview just to see the reaction lol.

"stop the hate dont discriminate" is going to be a great SDN catchphrase from here on out

This thread will be forgotten in two days time, mark my words with bated breath.

Dunno. Bannie's been a "vocal" member of the 2009-2010 app season

maybe it's just me but i find it humorous when people act like douchebags and as$holes. I rarely take any taunts here seriously- even if it appears malicious i just attribute it to a failed sarcasm meter. This forum would be utterly boring if everyone was accepting and caring and considerate ALL the time.
