Hello all,

Have any of you all heard much about a website called straighter line? People at my university have used it to take online classes for transfer credits. They offer a few prereqs (physics and chemistry with labs) that are appealing because it is cheap and self paced. There was one other thread about this from a year or so ago but it fails to mention that they have ACE accreditation and they may not have been accredited when that post was made. I would prefer to take these classes at my university but for several scheduling and financial reasons that won't be possible for another year or so.

It's a scam. Also taking pre-reqs online is generally frowned upon. I've heard of people taking pre-nursing requirements through straighterline.

Don't take the easy way out.

I agree that it seems like a scam. Several people in my major have used it to take math classes though. Why is it frown upon to take prereqs online? I spoke with admissions counselors at Campbell and WVSOM and they both said that online classes and even labs were not an issue. Is this not the same response I will be hearing from other schools?

Call and ask them specifically about straighterline and show them the website.

dont do it

DO schools in general are a little more accepting of online courses but not all of them. Why not take them at a local university or even CC?

From what I've read, it is a scam..
They intentionally fail students just to keep them in school and makes you pay the monthly fee. Just go with well established schools (UNC, UNE, Oregon SU, UC Berkeley Extension.. etc)
