So I've been married for 11 years, and I've always talked in my sleep occasionally. It drives my husband crazy. But with medical school applications in for this cycle I'm having anxiety and stressing a lot, leading to more talking and even yelling, barking, growling (I know .. it's weird) and it's keeping my husband and I both up. Any advice to reduce the stress from the waiting? Or is this something sleep aids or antianxiety meds would help? Never been on either of them so I'm kind of wary.

Disclaimer: seeing a psych next week to talk about it, possibly get a sleep study scheduled.

May be you are channeling your inner spirit animal?

Perhaps, try relaxing activities, hot shower/bath, meditations, do something to let go of thoughts, vent.

If you are stressed, you may be holding it in. Let it out somehow. Workout/talk/yoga.

Lol it's funny because we have a husky... Who's a very talkative vocal husky. He likes to growl and "argue" to get his way. I usually don't remember my dreams or what happened. But the other night when I growled/barked in my sleep I remember trying to scare someone who was trying to abduct my dog. [emoji190]

Don't think it's a great idea to start sleep aids, anti-anxiety drugs (at least not any of the benzos), or anything else habit-forming before you're even into med school. Docs are at higher risk of abusing drugs.

CBT for anxiety, mindfulness, etc would be more beneficial now and in the long run.

I appreciate your advice, but my mother in law has used "CBD low THC marijuana" for years now and it's destroyed her and her family. Contrary to popular belief, pot is incredibly addicting as well.

If you're referring to oils/aromatherapy I'm sure that's different, but I personally don't see the benefit beyond other aromatherapy and similar non hemp products.

SDN is not for medical advice. Talk to your family doctor.

More for stress management than medical advice, thanks though.

Though, feel free to close/delete (I wasn't trying to be rude in my last post, though it came off like it I think.)

CBT = cognitive behavioural therapy. I would 100% never advocate anything cannabis-related for anxiety, and specifically advise against it!
