I'm taking the August MCAT and I'm a little hesitant applying without at least taking the test. I saw a post recently that I thought was pretty wise that advised applying to only a couple of schools first and then adding schools in August. I think I'd like to apply this way, apply to 5 schools or so now and add the rest in mid-August. This way if I feel like I totally bombed the MCAT, I will have only spent a couple of hundred. At the same time my application will already be verified, and I can just add schools. Is there anything wrong with this idea that I'm not aware of? Is it harmful in any way, adding schools more than twice? If AMCAS is verified, how long after adding the school will it take for my app to be transmitted? Anyone done something similar? Thanks for any input! 😀

Look at the thread I posted yestarday "August MCAT takers --- when submit AMCAS application", I sure you will find bunch of answers.

One piece of advice on the MCAT: Do not try to guess how you did on the MCAT after you finish taking it. Everyone I know who took it felt as though they got a 3 on each section. I thought I bombed it and still got a decent score. You either bite the bullet and apply, or wait for your scores. You will probably get somewhere (within 1 or 2 points either way) of your top two practice exams (assuming you've taken 4 or 5 of them). Use that as a guideline in determining whether or not to apply. Just my two cents worth.

I agree with the above post. It is very hard to predict your MCAT score according to how you feel about the exam.

Good luck.

Good luck.

It is, however, pretty valid to predict based on your performance on AMCAS practice tests 4R, 5R, 6R, and 7R.

any thoughts on submitting AMCAS and then adding schools later ---?

just to get it verified as soon as possible....

That works out just fine. I added a school after I was verified and got their secondary 4 days later.

nice - I hope it works out -

I just submitted but low and behold there was something missing! Apparently they are missing a transcript that I was told they received 2 weeks ago!

"I heart AMCAS"
