This is why my refrigerator is filled with dishes of sugar-free Jell-O. I just made 3 more batches today. 🙂

I have to be able to fit into my interview suit!

I munch on carrots and celery...at first the thought might be that they don't suppress cravings --> but once you start it's hard to stop. And what could be better, after all they are just water + vitamins in an orange or green bag 😀 !

Oreos are just no-nos. Find the less deadly snacks if you absolutely must eat junkfood.

Personally I prefer something like peanut butter on celery. The protein in peanut butter takes longer to absorb so therefore you don't get as hungry as quickly.

Don't you worry about aspartame? People consume HUGE amounts of it just because the products say sugar-free. It's gotta have some negative effects!

Acid-poop that burns your anus.

Sike, I just felt like saying acid and anus in the same sentence...sorry.

🙄

I *must* be in a pre-med forum.

Why don't you ask the people who consume 2+ diet sodas every day, and leave me and my HUGE amounts of aspartame alone?

No, the acid-poop that burns your anus is from the Olean faux-fat crap that they were making lo-cal lo-fat chips out of a few years back. That stuff was rank.

All aspartame is reduce your ability to trigger a feeling of satiety; if you eat lots of aspartame or other sugar substitute, you're more likely to eat greater quantities of everything else you eat because you've shortcircuited your satiety reflex.

Food for thought.

??? The research I've seen on medline indicates that aspartame may serve as an appetite suppressant.

I've researched up aspartame and it's effects since I drink the equivalent of a 12 pack of diet pepsi a day (vanilla and wild cherry, so good...) and everybody gives me crap about it b/c of the aspartame...

I CAN'T STAND IT!!! These people have way worse health habits that I do. I snack on peanuts, almonds, and yoghurt and play a soccer game later on while they are eating chips and will go home and sit all night.
They always talk about "doesn't aspartame cause cancer" even though the studies that have it causing cancer in rats are the equivalent to a human drinking amounts that are impossible to ingest (i.e. a swimming pool of diet soda in a day)
people need to chill about aspartame

At my job, there was a woman who gave me difficulty about drinking the amount of diet soda I drink...b/c a family member of hers is a biochemist and thinks it's bad

oh yeah, let me mention that she was about 5'5" and weighed about 300-320 pounds... 😡

it took every ounce of my will not to let loose a verbal onslaught about how stupid her saying anything was...

Personally, stress tends to make my diet coke and adderall addictions rear their ugly heads. *sips*

I've always heard- as well as found from personal experience- that it tends to cause cravings for sugar. Apparently it stimulates the release of insulin, but doesn't signal your body that you're full like "real" sugar.. making you crave more sweet stuff. Mmm. I suppose I've never found it to be a problem, but I have noticed it a bit.. and can see how it could easy become a problem 👎

You should exercise instead. It really works.

Diet stuff=nasty. I try to eat like a French/Italian person. They have the best food in the world, and they are hot. Bring it on. 😀

When Im stressed out I stop eating either because I forget to eat or my stomach is flopping around too much. My best friend in college was a stress eater, and she found that it was best to not keep any of her comfort foods in the house.

Hey, I ain't dissing aspartame. I'm just a Splenda girl, myself. *wink*

Tastes like sugar cuz it's MADE from sugar. <-- stupidest catch phrase ever. Plenty of saccharides around that aren't tasty at all!

Hmm. . . I think the study I read was with mice and a "liquid chocolate" type food. That's about all I remember, and it wasn't for a class, so maybe I got the results backwards or something. If THAT is the case, then bring on the d.c. kids cuz I got a hankerin' for some bubbles!

Um,

Don't buy any desserts

and

If you are stressed,

take some antianxiety medication

like

BEER.

My Halloween candy has been the end of me with all this stress....I should just throw it in the trash, but I LOVE chocolate. Anyone want some Butterfingers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? What about Baby Ruth's and Milky Ways?

i usually respond to stress by eating sweets; however during this entire application cycle, beginning with secondaries, i've found that drinking gin helps take some of the edge off. oh, and i've recently discovered diet tonic water, so at least i won't put on too much weight...

🙄

I replaced desserts with beer and went from 185 to 160 lbs.

So does it cause sugar cravings or suppress your appetite? I NEED to know (I've recently discovered Diet Mtn. Dew, and it's the only soda I drink, but man, I love it and drink a lot of it!)

So, if I'm going to get a hole in my brain (that's what I thought aspartame does), I'd like to know if I'm going to want to eat more or not while I'm doing it.
Appetite suppressant > hole in the brain

Appetite suppressant > hole in the brain

Sucralose (Splenda) is the only safe sugar substitute.

If you want to suppress your appetite, take some green tea extact.

I did not realize they have the dry packets of sugar-free jello that you can make yourself! I remember really searching for them but could never find them....where do you live?

I have at least one drink the night before my interview to help me sleep, b/c by the time it's time to shut down I am so wired from stress, it's impossible to fall asleep. Otherwise, I would be munching away from stress.

sometimes, i drink a dr. pepper late night so i can go to sleep, im hooked.. :scared:
